Primary Care / Clinical Epidemiology

Clinical Epidemiology

Clinical epidemiology is active in patient-centred research in a broad sense. The programme works closely together with several departments from the Maastricht University Medical Centre (such as haematology, vascular medicine, oncology, cardiology, cardio surgery, ophthalmology, obstetrics, dermatology), but also with some departments in the Atrium Medical Centre in Heerlen (vascular surgery for example).

Research in prediction models
A methodological focus is research in prediction models. In each of these clinical areas as well as in the methodological focus, multiple research projects are beginning, ending and continuing. Based on the type of research, most projects involve project groups with clinical experts and often also experts in the area of health technology assessment. A strong line of research concerns peripheral arterial disease, in close cooperation with Dr. J. Teijink, vascular surgeon in Heerlen, who moved to Eindhoven in 2009.
