CAPHRI Research Day 2018

6 November 2018

On 6 November the CAPHRI Research Day will take place. Our yearly event where CAPHRI colleagues can meet, share and learn. This year’s topic is The Future of Evidence-Based Practice in Healthcare.

The term ‘Evidence-based’ is like a magic word that is placed in the centre of the practice, policy and financing of healthcare. Recently the Council for Public Health and Society (RVS) published a report which included the statement that Evidence-Base Practice as the basis of good healthcare is an illusion (read a summary of the report here). Instead the Council pleads for ‘context-based practice’, which also acknowledges the importance of the specific context, of the patient and of the healthcare setting. The report provoked a discussion about the relevance of different types of evidence. During the CAPHRI Research Day we will focus on this ‘struggle about evidence’ and the implications for research within CAPHRI.

Plenary session
During the plenary session in the morning 3 interesting speakers will elaborate on the theme. This will be prof. Jos Kleijnen (Professor of systematic reviews in healthcare, Maastricht University), Prof. Jan Kremer (Professor in Patientcentredness, Radboudumc Nijmegen and member Council Health and Society) and Prof. Trudy Dehue (Professor of Philosophy and History of Science, University of Groningen). Moderator is prof. Jochen Cals.

Poster session
Like other years a poster session is organized in which selected PhD-candidates can show and pitch their work to the CAPHRI community.

Research line afternoon sessions
New this year is that the afternoon sessions will be organized by the different research lines. You will have the opportunity to meet your RL colleagues and learn about the latest news within your RL. Besides, each RL will organize an activity (workshop, speaker etc.) around this year’s theme.

Support staff workshop
Support staff can get into a real dream machine by joining the workshop (in Dutch) ‘De droommachine’ where you – together with your colleagues - can make dreams come true.

Award ceremony
And of course, we are excited who will win the 2017 Dissertation Award and Societal Impact Award for which the RL chairs are asked to send nominations. The public can vote for the winner of the Public Poster Award and the scientific committee will award the Jury Poster Award. We will close the day with informal drinks.

The official language of the Research Day will be English.

The Research Day will take place at the beautiful Château St. Gerlach in Valkenburg.

You can find the entire programme, including the programmes of the research line sessions here. Registration is closed.
