There is something in the air

Date | time: 23 February 2017 | 17.45 – 21.30 hrs.
Location: Hotel Van der Valk, Nijverheidsweg 35, Maastricht

The winter season traditionally is the viral season. There is something in the air that simply makes us miserable and ill; from rhinovirus to influenza, but also the (less known) RS-virus that causes a lot of complaints. Especially, immunocompromised people, elderly people and children do present their selves with a potentially serious upper or lower respiratory infection which cannot be treated for the time being. Each year influenza and the influenza-vaccination return in the hospital as well as in the media. There was swine flu, there is bird flu but what type of flu humanity has the biggest chance to face? And what about our top athletes? If they are infected by these viruses at the Olympic Games, the chance of winning a medal will decrease considerably. How do they try to prevent these infections?
